Dead or Alive, explained
Updated 12 Oct 2026What's new in Dead or Alive
Dead or Alive is the game that started the series, and its idea is simple: wanted posters that stick. In the base game they are ordinary wilds, but in free spins every wild stays on the reels until the round ends, and wins are doubled. Fill the reels with posters and each later spin pays on the lines they cover.
How Dead or Alive plays
It plays on a 5x3 grid with 9 fixed bet lines. Card ranks 10 to A are the low pays, then shot glasses, cowboy boots, a white hat, a holstered pistol and the sheriff's badge. The Wanted poster wild substitutes for everything except the crossed-pistol scatter, and scatters also pay on their own from 2 anywhere on the reels.
The Dead or Alive free spins
3 or more scatters award 12 free spins. Every wild that lands sticks for the rest of the round, all line wins are doubled, and if at least one sticky wild sits on every reel you get 5 extra spins. Free spins can be retriggered once per round. There is no bonus buy.
