Gonzo's Quest, explained
Updated 12 Oct 2026How tumbling reels work in Gonzo's Quest
Gonzo's Quest has no spinning reels. Stone blocks fall into a 5x3 grid, and wins pay on 20 fixed lines from the left. When a line wins, its blocks explode and new ones fall from above into the gaps, which NetEnt calls an Avalanche. If the new blocks make another win, it happens again.
Each Avalanche in a row raises the win multiplier by 1, up to 5x, and a spin with no win resets it. So the best moments are long chains, where every new win pays more than the one before it.
The Gonzo's Quest free spins
3 Free Fall scatters on the first three reels give 10 free spins, and the wild can stand in for a scatter to complete the trigger. The round works the same way, but the multiplier climbs much higher, up to 15x, so a long chain of Avalanches is where the big wins come from. More scatters during the round retrigger it.
Is Gonzo's Quest for you?
It suits players who like a simple game with one clear thing to root for: a long chain of wins. Magic Maid Cafe uses the same Avalanche idea with increasing multipliers in an anime setting, and Cursed Treasure adds bonus buys to a tumbling adventure.
